Google Glass: what does the future hold? | 09 July 2013, 1:34PM | An essay titled “The future of the future” written in 1977 by British sci-fi author JG Ballard has recently re-surfaced where he makes a remarkably accurate predication about social media. Published in Vogue magazine at the time, Ballard wrote:
| | | | | | | Gordon Ramsay and Hello Kitty engage Singapore | 09 July 2013, 2:29AM | Singaporeans love two things passionately: 1) brands and 2) freebies. When the two come together the mix is explosive! Two great examples of this happened in the last few weeks with differing social media reactions:
| | | Wimbledon on social media: some infographics | 08 July 2013, 1:23PM | While sports journalists frantically dig around for a new Wimbledon story for 2014 - now that a British man has finally won the title - social media analysts are looking at what Twitter thought of the men’s final on Sunday.
| | | | | | | London students plot new social network launch | 08 July 2013, 6:00AM | Three London based students have got together to try and build a social network that seamlessly links brands with customers. As MySpace was the first social network that I truly embraced*, I obviously fought its corner and was somewhat sceptical of the arguments of some of my fellow British colleagues in favour of Bebo. It was around the same time that another relatively unknown site began to be talked about, and tentatively explored by both sides of the divide; a site which would ultimately render our discussions futile. According to social video expert Unruly, who furnish Campaign with data for our weekly viral ad chart, the recent tie-up that has seen the music mogul give away his newest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, to a million Samsung Galaxy owners, has generated more than half a million shares across Facebook, Twitter and the blogosphere.
