School dinners - from the Never Seconds blogA nine year old school girl has become an online star, after her local council banned her blog in which she was taking photos and ranking her school dinners.

The Never Seconds blog attracted a huge response, and was used by Martha Payne to raise money for the charity ‘Mary’s Meals’.

Facebook lies: Eight out of ten Brits admit their social networking profiles are 'fake'A study of 2,000 people found the average Facebook user carefully composes their profile - falsely painting a picture of an exciting social life, sophisticated tastes and glamorous photos.

But 80% confessed they have doctored photographs, linked to articles to appear intelligent, or tagged themselves at locations they’ve never visited.

Sadly this is only an online initiative. Google is getting together with AOL, Facebook, Twitter and the IAB to support StopBadware’s launch of the Ads Integrity Alliance, which is designed to protect users from bad ads.

Microsoft is reported to be in talks to acquire business social network Yammer for in excess of $1 billion.

Bloomberg reports that a deal is close at hand and could be signed as early as tomorrow.

Twitter introduces expanded tweets with more interactive content

Twitter is making a play to keep users on Twitter for longer with the introduction of new expanded tweets that give more interactive experiences on Twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com.

Beginning with a select group of news partners, that includes The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Wall Street Journal, expanded tweets will deliver rich content inside tweets. This will include a preview with the headline, the introduction and sometimes the Twitter accounts of the publisher and writer.
