Content: embrace the conflict | 24 March 2014, 11:12AM | I’m lucky enough to wear two hats in my job. One I wear to be Red Bee's creative director of content for brands. The other I wear as a documentary maker for film and television.
| | | Spring cleaning the mind | 24 March 2014, 11:11AM | I've officially been a meditator for one week. Top line learnings? Interruptions are everywhere. So far my meditations have been interrupted by: impatient commuters; my mobile (my fault); a colleague; my husband (his fault); and the cat. I take this all as imperative learning experience as I embark on my early meditation journey. The fact is, life is chock full of interruptions. Little and big things that worm their way into our working days, preventing us from the daily goal of Just Getting Shit Done.
| | | Is the demise of sharing closer than we think? | 24 March 2014, 9:15AM | As humans, sharing stems from our innate need to reach out, share experiences and form a bond with those around us. | | | How to know your video campaign was a success? | 24 March 2014, 9:00AM | Viewability has been a hot topic in advertising for a few years now. | | | SXSW 2014: 3 top takeaways for brands | 21 March 2014, 1:05PM | It's been a week since I got back from SXSW. After their (somewhat) shocking 3-0 loss to Liverpool over the weekend, conversation in the office quickly turned to Moyes' shaky position at the helm. This made us think...... | | | Twitter at eight | 21 March 2014, 11:41AM | On 21 March 2006, Jack Dorsey sent the first ever tweet. Fast-forward eight years, and Twitter is a fully-fledged cultural phenomenon, with 241 million active users. At the Oscars, Ellen Degeneres' celebrity selfie was retweeted 3.4 million times. With figures like this, it's not surprising Twitter felt it was time to go public in November of last year. But with this will come increased scrutiny from shareholders and the market in general, leading to some of Twitter's biggest obstacles yet. Twitter's first quarterly report displayed revenue of $242.7 million, and a growth in total user numbers. So far so good, but the report also revealed a slowing rate of user growth and a decrease in the number of timeline refreshes. This raised alarm bells on Wall Street. Without an engaged, growing user-base, it's debatable whether Twitter will be able to drive the revenue growth (and profit) to live up to its valuation. The effect of these revelations was immediately felt on the bottom line: share prices fell 30% on the day of the report.
