PR agency Brandlink Communications found itself in a PR disaster over the weekend when one of its vice presidents called influential blogger Jenny Lawson (aka The Bloggess), a "f***ing bitch" in a reply-all kerfuffle.

‘The X Factor’ audience might have fallen slightly last night, after it peaked at 13.5 million, as we said goodbye to Jonjo Kerr, Amelia Lily, 2 Shoes and James Michael (goodbye!), but we also said hello to Gary Barlow on Twitter.

Social media ad revenues to reach $10 billion by 2013

Worldwide social network advertising revenues will reach $5.54bn this year, according to eMarketer with just under half of that amount or $2.74bn coming from the US.

Social networking ad revenues will hit more than $8bn next year and almost $10bn in 2013 with around 52% of that coming from outside the US.

Bmibaby and Instagram reward users with a free flight

Low-cost airline bmibaby is to reward users of the photo-sharing social network Instagram with a free flight to a European city. Those selected will participate in the first-ever Instameet Exchange, a sort of Tweetup for photo enthusiasts.

Following hte relase of Facebook’s new public metric, “People Talking About” here’s an interesting look at what happens if you re-rank the top ten brand pages as measured by Famecount.

While Coca Cola has long sat atop the brand’s pile on Facebook in terms of likes that changes when you introduce the new metric. It also propels some brands forward. For instance McDonalds comes 17th terms of likes, but would be in second place under the new metric.

Instagram, the app which allows you to share sepia-hued photos instantly, currently has has around 10 million users with over 250 million photos shared so there's plenty of material to crowdsource your video from.

Interesting discussion here between futurists Ross Dawson and Gerd Leonhard of The Futures Agency discussing where Twitter is going.

They talk about the “Twitter News Network”, a term originally coined by Jeff Jarvis, as a way of describing what Twitter has beceome as a news distribution platform where news breaks first.

I’m not even close to be ing geeky enough to spot half of these game characters in this Sony version of the Star Wars Cantina, but that is Ghost from Modern Warfare. Who else can you spot?

YouTube launches Politics channel for US elections

YouTube has launched a new politics channel, as presidential candidates in the United States gear up for the 2012 race to the Whitehouse.

YouTube Politics will feature the latest campaign ads and speeches from both Democratic and Republican candidates, as well as all the parodies, as witnessed by Tina Fey's uncanny portrayal of Sarah Palin in 2008.
