What to consider when advertising to mobile shoppersThe latest data from the IAB report (co-produced with PWC) says that advertising on mobile devices in 2011 reached a new high of £203.2M, a 157% increase on the previous year. When compared to estimates from The Advertising Association/Warc Expenditure Report, this expenditure is now greater than overall cinema spend (£182M). So what is the best way to engage with consumers via their mobile?

Once again we see social media, and in particular Twitter breaking down barriers between superstars and their fans.

Facebook: The underage questionI held out for as long as possible, but a few months ago, I allowed my 11yr old son to open a Facebook account (their 'terms of service' state they have to be 13). Frankly, I was just as concerned about the necessity of lying about his age as I was about the safety issues, and even more so about the temptation to spend yet more time in front of a screen.

The globe and mail in Canada is to implement a paywallCanadian national newspaper The Globe and Mail is to follow The New York Times and others and begin charging its readers for content. The paper is to implement a metered paywall system although it has yet to announce how much it will charge or how many articles it will give readers for free.
