Victoria Ranson & Alain Chuard: Pair sell their start-up to Google for $250mInteresting one here. Google has bought social media management firm Wildfire Interactive as part of its efforts to boost its social media.

Google has reportedly paid $250m for the firm and co-founders Victoria Ransom, who blogs here, and Alain Chuard will join the search giant.

When I rushed home from work the other day I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the Olympic torch carried through my neighbourhood. Stuck on a packed train, I realised I was going to miss it. So I did the next best thing and hopped onto Twitter to see it all unfolding in the palm of my hand. It wasn't the written updates I wanted to see, it was the photos.

Tom Daley gets ready to diveIt's been a good week for Twitter outrage, but a bad week for the people at the centre. Diver Tom Daley has been on the receiving end of some vicious tweeting; a journalist for the Independent was chucked off Twitter for criticising NBC over shoddy Olympics coverage (though since reinstated), and a 17 year-old has been picked up from a guesthouse, arrested and given a harassment warning as the presumed sender of the abusive tweets to Daley.

The teenager who sent the malicious tweets was given a harassment warning, which seems a proportionate response after some questioned whether he should have been arrested in the first place.
