The headline says its all: five companies that are rocking social media from Dell, to Unisys and KLM.

Status update: I'm getting bored with social mediaNews research from YouGov shows that while the uptake and usage of social media remains high as many as 41% of the UK online population claim to be getting bored of social media and say they will use it less. It points to Facebook’s usage while almost universal among the young starting to plateau and points to the rise of niche social sites. For instance it says finance site moneysavingexpert.com has as many active users as Twitter.

Less than a year after popstar Lady Gaga passed 10 million Twitter followers she has become the first person to amass a whopping 20 million followers. She is bascially a one woman global movement. I’m surprised there aren’t more people wearing meat dresses.

Pinterest usage and growth US vs UK [infogrpahic]The US numbers are huge, with as many as 13 million in less than a year, but the UK numbers are growing fast as we all fall for Pinterest.

Interesting the largest group of users in the UK are younger than their US counterparts and we’re also wealthier on average.

Deutsche Bank has one tweeter and all tweets are PR cleared

Interesting piece on BusinessWeek on investment bank Deutsche Bank’s one an only official tweeter. He’s called Ted Tobiason (@TedTobiasonDB) and he is the one guy the bank has who is allowed to tweet and his tweets must be cleared through the communications team.

The Wall Street Journal does some future gazing looking at a possible future Twitter IPO, which most seem to agree is at least a year away if not further distant.

Twitter is right at the start of the process of getting advertisers on board as it expands its Promoted Ad programme, only just expanding to mobile, and while there are many experimenting the challenge is cracking the likes of global businesses like consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble, which in a recent $150m detergent launch did not consider Twitter as part of its vast campaign spend.
